2008 Calgary Kickoff - Stephen E Lee presents Horses in Motion
Because They Can
Edition of 5 ~ 22" X 30" X 18"
Price - $7,000

This is where the "Horses in Motion" series began. "Because They Can"
answers the age old question, Why do horses buck?"
In a perfect world, they would still buck and for lots of different reasons.
This sculpture posed some difficult anatomical and compositional
challenges. I'm really happy with the results.

Going For Home
Edition of 10 ~ 16" X 16" X 5"
Price - $3,000

The second piece in our collection this year is a tip of the hat to
the cowgirls. Some of the finest horsepeople, ranchers and rodeo
athletes I've ever been around are women. There is a certain class and
insight they bring to the table that cannot be overlooked. So for you
gals turning the last barrel, topping off that colt or getting back to
the house in a hurry this one's for you. Special thanks to Toni Dixon
and Okey Dokey Wind who graciously lent their time and beauty to this
piece.

Remuda
Edition of 3 ~ Dimensions Variable
shown as 15" X 144" X 8"
Price - $30,000 - Sold Out

There is nothing neater than to watch a group of horses on the move.
One of my first jobs as a cowboy was to wrangle the horses for our
day's work. It's fun to be amoungst them, as the excitement of moving
out early gets everyone's heart pumping.
This is such a unique idea for displaying bronze sculpture. Because
they mount to the wall, the possiblities for combining and arranging
the individual horses are endless. Thanks fo Lynda Williamson for such a
fresh concept. This piece as shown in picture is approximately 12 feet
long.

Cruz
1 of a kind
Sold!

Anyone who trains horses at any level will tell you horses teach us
more about ourselves than we teach them. That is certainly the case
with Cruz. She was a gift from Doctor Teresa Gonzales. The filly
belonged to her late husband and my cherished friend, Melecio
Gonzales. He asked me to train Cruz before he passed, so I was honored
to receive her from Teresa.
Cruz bucked harder and threw me more often than any horse I've ever
ridden. Today, Cruz is quickly becoming one of the best cow horses we
own. "Acceptando Mi Cruz" is about facing the fears in my life and
accepting the challenges that lie ahead.
This piece was sculpted and cast exclusively for the Calgary Stampede
Auction. It is an edition of one, and once it has sold at auction
there will be no other copies available.
